Scholarships and Awards

• Ben L. Swensen Award
  Award:  $2000.  
  Criteria:  Secondary mathematics education major with at least junior standing and a Grade Point Average of 3.0 or higher as of September 1.  To apply for the scholarship, you must submit the following to the Administrative Assistant in the Department of Mathematics (7800 York Road, room 316) by March 17:
  
• Transcript (official or unofficial),
• Two letters of recommendation:
• At least 1 must be from a Towson professor and
• Preferably, recommendations are from people who can speak about 1) applicant’s accomplishments in mathematics and 2) applicant’s desire to teach mathematics, and
• A 1 – 2 page personal statement of philosophy of mathematics education.
All student recipients are expected to write a thank you note to the donor representative.  The recipient will be contacted by the Office of Development with more information on the acknowledgment process soon after notification of selection.
