Dr. Cooper specializes in mass media and teaches courses in regulation, management, criticism and research methods. Her research interests focus on regulation of media products, government oversight of the regulatory process, and the competing rights and responsibilities involved in First Amendment law. She has authored two books and several chapters on media violence and hate speech. Prior to fulltime teaching, she held industry positions in television, multimedia, and healthcare. She is a member of the Broadcast Education Association, the Eastern Communication Association and the International Communication Association. Dr. Cooper is Chair of the MCCS department.
