Dr. McMullen specializes in organizational communication, interpersonal communication, and communication training. Her current research focuses on understanding the cultural impact of a small Canadian island community as it negotiates the possible arrival of wind turbines. Additional research areas include: Communication pedagogy and ethnographic inquiries. She advises students who use qualitative methods and rhetorical theory. Recent research is published in Communication Quarterly, Communication Education, and the Atlantic Journal of Communication.
