Professor Norton has over 25 years of combined experience in business and professional communication and Communication Studies instruction. Ms. Norton has private and public sector communications experience. As the Baltimore Office Marketing Manager for both ICF Kaiser Engineers and Johnson, Mirmiran and Thompson, she led communications and marketing initiatives. She was the Manager of Special Projects for the Maryland Mass Transit Administration spearheading light rail community outreach, organizational development initiatives, and federal policy implementation. As Special Assistant to the Construction Manager and Community Relations Liaison, she was responsible for community relations and crisis management for the $339 Million Baltimore Metro Northeast Extension. In the classroom, Professor Norton emphasizes the balance between communication theory and communication skills. Her teaching experience includes: Interpersonal Communication, Conference and Meeting Management, Advanced Public Speaking, Honors Public Speaking, Public Speaking, Nonverbal Communication, Organizational Communication, and Communication Training and Development. She has consulted in “communication and public speaking pragmatics” in the Baltimore Region.
