New Full-Time Faculty

Dr. Erich Sommerfeldt joined the faculty in fall of 2011. He teaches public relations courses.

Professor Shannon Maki joined the faculty in fall of 2011. She teaches communication studies courses.

Dr. John Kirch joined the faculty in fall of 2011. Dr. Kirch teaches journalism and new media courses.

Dr. Cynthia Cooper joined the faculty in fall of 2010. Dr. Cooper teaches journalism and new media courses, and is the chair of the MCCS Department.

Dr. Amy Bree Becker joined the faculty in fall of 2010. Dr. Becker teaches mass communication research courses.

Professor Jillian Marty joined the faculty in fall of 2010. She teaches communication studies courses and is the director of the debate team.

Dr. Hua Jiang joined the faculty in fall of 2009. Dr. Jiang teaches public relations courses.

Professor Joanne Broadwater became a full-time faculty member in fall 2009. She teaches journalism courses.

Professor Maggie Lears became a full-time faculty member in fall 2009. She teaches advertising and public relations courses.

Leaving Us

Professor Beth Skinner left the Department after the spring 2011.

Dr. Mark McElreath retired at the end of 2010.

Dr. Charles Flippen retired after the spring of 2009.
