The Patrick John O'Connell Memorial Scholarship |
| The Patrick John O'Connell Memorial Scholarship was established in 1981 by Patrick and Norma O'Connell to honor the memory of their son. |
| Patrick John O'Connell graduated from Towson Senior High School in 1979 and pursued his interest in photojournalism at Towson University. He extended his enthusiasm for photography beyond classroom by offering his talent as a student photographer for Towson University Office of Design and Publications. He demonstrated his skill and budding professionalism by photographing such notables as Bob Hope and Red Skelton during their appearances at Towson Center. |
| Patrick's life tragically ended in a fatal car accident on May 30, 1980. |
| His contributions to the University and to photojournalism are remembered through the Patrick John O'Connell Memorial Scholarship. It is awarded with the intention of providing a "promising Mass Communication major" with the encouragement and support to successfully pursue his/her chosen field of study. |
