Michael Jothen is Professor of Music and Program Director of Graduate Music Education. An active choral and general music educator, composer, guest conductor and clinician, coauthor of the basal P-8 textbook series Music and You, Share the Music, Spotlight On Music and grades 6-12 choral textbook series Experiencing Choral Music, he has also authored articles in The Choral Journal, Music Educators Journal, Letters, and NASSP Bulletin. Dr. Jothen has shared with choral and general music educators, church musicians, and young people throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.
He is a Past-President of the National Board of Directors of Choristers Guild, Dallas, Texas and recently retired as Music Director of the Senior Choir of St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Baltimore. In addition to receiving commissions for numerous choral compositions, he has earned awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers for his contributions to the choral repertoire. Dr. Jothen is a graduate of St. Olaf College, Case-Western Reserve University, and The Ohio State University.
