A
composer whose work has been performed by the Eastman Wind
Orchestra, violinist Courtney Orlando, and Vientos Trio in Los
Angeles, Mark A. Lackey is also a passionate teacher, with courses at
Towson University and Johns Hopkins University. Lackey
earned the degrees Doctor of Musical Arts in composition, Master of
Music in composition, and Master of Music in theory pedagogy from The
Peabody Conservatory where his teachers included Christopher Theofanidis
and the late Nicholas Maw. He is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda national
honor society in music, recipient of a Johns Hopkins University Arts
Innovation Grant as well as fellowships from the Johns Hopkins
University Center for Educational Resources, and beneficiary of an
Encore Grant from the American Composers Forum. He and his wife and
daughter live in Baltimore, Maryland.
