Henry Lowe

Henry Lowe began his early organ study in Baltimore with Richard Wegner and later at the University of Maryland, from which he received his Bachelor's degree (cum laude) in 1966. Following two years of study at New York's Union Theological Seminary, during which time he served as Assistant Organist at St. Bartholomew's Church, Park Avenue, he was awarded a Master of Sacred Music degree (cum laude). Other organ teachers include Jack Ossewaarde, Robert Baker, Clarence Watters and Roberta Gary.

In 1983 a six-month sabbatical took him and his family to Cambridge, England where he devoted much time to the study of technique and repertoire of the English choral tradition.

Since finishing his formal studies he has held positions at Christ Church, Hamilton, MA (1968-75) and Christ Church Cathedral, Cincinnati, OH (1975-84), both which are known for their fine musical tradition. While providing music for all worship services, he also brought major choral, organ and orchestral works to these parishes in monthly concerts and special services of music. In November 1984 he began serving as Organist/Director of Music at The Church of The Redeemer, Baltimore.

He is past Dean of the Cincinnati and Baltimore Chapters of The American Guild of Organists and has presented workshops and recitals for local chapters and conventions.

His recital career has taken him to many parts of the United States, England, France and Holland playing in such noteworthy places as Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris and St. Paul's Cathedral, London. He is instructor in organ at Towson University.
