Diane Luchese
Picture of Diane LucheseDiane Luchese, Associate Professor of Music Theory, joined the Towson faculty in Fall, 1999. Before coming to Towson, she taught music theory at Ohio State University, the Chicago Musical College, New England Conservatory, and DePaul University's Community Music Division, and also was a teaching assistant at Northwestern University. She previously worked as an organist and choir director in the New York, Boston, and Chicago metropolitan areas, and currently freelances as an organist in the Baltimore area. She is a member of the Executive Board of the Baltimore Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

Dr. Luchese earned a PhD in music theory from Northwestern University, Master of Music Degrees from the New England Conservatory in both music theory and organ performance, and a bachelor of music degree in organ performance from the Manhattan School of Music. Her organ teachers include Yuko Hayashi, Frederick Swann and Paul-Martin Maki. She studied composition with M. William Karlins and Robert Cogan. Her special interests include performing new music for organ, research on time and motion, the music of Bach, Messiaen and Ligeti, and music theory pedagogy, as influenced by music cognition research.
