Eva Mengelkoch

Picture of Eva MengelkochPianist Eva Mengelkoch has performed extensively in chamber music ensembles, solo recitals, and as an accompanist on modern and historic keyboard instruments in North America, Central America, India, and throughout Europe.  The venues she has performed at include Saint-Martin-in-the-Fields in London, the Mendelssohn-Haus in Leipzig, the Tata-Theatre in Bombay, the Liszt-Academy in Budapest, and the Teatro Nacional in Managua.  Her recital at Chicago’s Cultural Center for the “Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series” was broadcast live on WFMT Radio.

Ms Mengelkoch studied with British pianist Michael Roll at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen, and received her graduate degrees at Indiana University as a student of Leonard Hokanson (piano) and Elisabeth Wright (fortepiano and harpsichord). As a fellow of Villa Musica, she toured the Rhine and Moselle valleys, performing in chamber music ensembles with violinists Miriam Fried, Rainer Kussmaul, and Ulf Hoelscher, and percussionist Peter Sadlo.  She regularly performs in recital with baritone Ryan de Ryke and violinist Zoltan Szabo, former concertmaster of the Tonhalle Orchester, Zürich.  She also founded and continues to serve as the artistic director of the Cylburn Chamber Music Series in Baltimore, and is a member of the Cylburn-Trio with violinist Ken Goldstein and cellist Ilya Finkelshteyn.

Her first solo CD features works by Schumann, de Falla, and Soler, and was recorded in the historic music salon of the Mendelssohn-Haus in Leipzig.  It was released by Beoton in 2002, and has been broadcast on American and German public radio.

Eva Mengelkoch is a recipient of a 2008 Performing Artist Award from the Maryland State Arts Council.  She is a piano professor at Towson University in Baltimore.
