Alicia Mueller
Picture of Alicia MuellerAmong her responsibilities as Associate Professor of Music at Towson University, Dr. Alicia Mueller supervises student teachers; teaches the vocal-general P-8 methods/foundation courses for music education majors; coordinates/teaches early childhood education and elementary education music methods courses for non-music majors; teaches specialized courses in various areas of music education, such as Orff Schulwerk techniques; serves on graduate theses committees; serves as academic advisor to music majors; contributes to the departmental recruitment of students; and serves as Faculty Advisor for the MENC (Music Educators National Conference) Collegiate Chapter. She currently serves as the President of the Maryland General Music Teachers Association.

Dr. Mueller received her Ed.D. from Arizona State University in Tempe; M.S. from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign; B.S. from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville; Orff Schulwerk Teacher's Certificate from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia; and has studied the Dalcroze method with Bob Abramson at the University of Illinois.

As a university professor, Dr. Mueller has served as the Music Education Coordinator at Washington State University in Pullman, as well as Adjunct Professor of Music at Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington. As an elementary/general music specialist, she has taught in the public schools of the Washington, D.C. and Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan areas. As a choral singer, she has sung with the Oratorio Society of Washington, D.C., the leading chorus with the National Symphony Orchestra.

Dr. Mueller is an active clinician at national, regional, and local levels, presenting workshops on topics ranging from movement and music instruction, music for young children, and the integration of music and the arts across the curriculum, to the incorporation of multiculturalism in music education, Orff Schulwerk techniques, and teacher training. She has published articles in MENC journals ranging from Teaching Music and General Music Today to the Maryland and Washington state music education journals and The Orff Echo.
