Michael Murray Bunn has been a member of the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra for more than 30 years. The KCOHO is also recognized as the official orchestra for the Washington National Opera, Placido Domingo, General Director. A native of the Washington D.C. area, Bunn was the first to receive both bachelor and master degrees of music in tuba performance from the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Md. He has studied with David Bragunier, Arnold Jacobs, Warren Deck and Edward Whitfield. For years he has been recognized as first-call for the Washington-Baltimore area freelance scene. Demonstrating versatility, he has been engaged by the Barnum and Bailey's Greatest Show on Earth, been on stage with such orchestras as the Concertgebouw, Orchestra Nationale de France, Paris Opera, Kirov Opera Orchestra, and has performed in chamber recital with world renowned flutist, Jean Pierre Rampal. In addition to working in the pit at KC, Bunn is also a member of the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra. He has taught at most of the major universities and colleges in the DC region. Currently he has studios at Howard University, Shenandoah University in Winchester, Va., and Towson University.
