Terry Eberhardt

Baritone Terry N. Eberhardt received his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Music Education from the Peabody Conservatory of Music and master's degree in Opera Performance at the University of Maryland Opera Studio.

Eberhardt, is well known to Baltimore audiences with performances in The Magic Flute as Papageno, the title role in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi and in La Boheme as Marcello with The Municipal Opera Company of Baltimore, Inc.

Eberhardt has performed Figaro in The Marriage of Figaro, Leporello in Don Giovanni, Papageno in The Magic Flute and Guglielmo in Cosi Fan Tutte with The In Series in Washington D.C.

While in the Maryland Opera Studio he performed Bartolo in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Achilla in Giulio Cesare, and Schaunard in La Boheme. Operatic performances at The Peabody Opera Theater include Masque in Dioclesian, Berlin to Broadway, Cherùbin and Hansel und Grete, In 1998, he performed the role of Tom in David Shapiro’s prize winning chamber opera, The April Witch at Peabody and The National Opera Association convention in Washington, D.C. Mr. Eberhardt has also performed the role of Rev. John Hale in The Crucible at the Seagle Music Festival NY.

Eberhardt is a native of Maryland and has performed in numerous oratorios as baritone soloist, such as The Schubert Magnificat, The Creation, The Seven Last Words of Christ, The Messiah and The Fauré Requiem. He has performed in Master Classes with Sherill Milnes and John Shirley Quirk.

Eberhardt is the proud recipient of the Maryland State Teachers Award, the Maryland Distinguished Scholarship in talent and education, and the Peabody Scholarship in talent. In 2008 Eberhardt was named the Howard County Teacher of the Year for his commitment to music excellence in the classroom.

As an educator Eberhardt spent four years teaching General Music, Chorus, and Drama at Shady Grove Middle School in Montgomery County. Recently Eberhardt was appointed Performing Arts Chair at Marriotts Ridge High School in Marriottsville Maryland. Eberhardt has also directed at Trinity College where his success led the gospel choir to televised performances before the United States Congress.

Eberhardt has been guest conductor for the Calvert County High School Honors Chorus, the Carroll County High School Honors Chorus, the Washington County Middle School Honors Chorus, the Easton Shore Middle School Honors Chorus, the Charles County Middle School Honors Chorus, Charles County Tri-county Honors Chorus and most recently the Prince Georges High School Honors Chorus at the Kennedy Center.

Eberhardt is an active adjudicator and clinician. Recently he has given clinics in vocal techniques for the classroom and the vocal instrument. Eberhardt has been a choral adjudicator for festivals throughout the state of Maryland. He has also served as adjudicator for the Maryland State Vocal Solo Ensemble Festival.

Eberhardt teaches voice, privately to students in the greater metropolitan area. His students have been extremely successful in performance and competition. Eberhardt’s talents as a vocal educator have been recognized by the Young People’s Summer Stock Camp where he has been on voice faculty for the past 11 summers.
