John McGinness is the bass trombonist of the Delaware Symphony Orchestra, the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, and the Ash Lawn Opera Festival, and is a freelance trombone performer based in the greater Baltimore/Washington DC area.  In addition, he serves as a faculty member at Towson University and Washington Adventist University and teaches privately in Fairfax County, VA and is an Artist/Clinician with the Edwards Instrument Company.

McGinness has performed with the National Symphony and Kennedy Center Orchestras, the Pennsylvania Ballet Orchestra, and with orchestras in Dallas, Fort Worth, Louisville, and other cities.   A native Texan, he holds degrees from the University of Houston and Southern Methodist University.

Currently, he and his wife Elizabeth, Principal Flutist of the "Pershing's Own" Army Concert Band, live in Northern Virginia.
