Dr. Margaret Tung is the ultimate freelance musician, performing regularly in Chicago, Key West, Baltimore, and Washington DC. Notable performances include concerts with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO), Zurich Opera Orchestra, and Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra. Currently, Tung performs across the country from Key West with the South Florida Symphony Orchestra to Chicago with the International Chamber Artists, and worldwide on tours with the Rodney Mack Philadelphia Big Brass. During 2011 she collaborated with Yo-Yo Ma in a CSO premiere of a children's program called Once Upon a Symphony, and with MusicNOW (the CSO's new music ensemble) she premiered Anna Clyne's Spangled Unicorn for brass ensemble.

As a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago she participated in MusiCorps, an education and music advocacy program for the city, and while living in Switzerland she taught horn at the Zurich International School and played extra with the Zurich Opera Orchestra. As a soloist, Tung won the Colorado College Chamber Music Festival concerto competition where she performed Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 3. Past summer engagements include Spoleto Festival USA, National Repertory Orchestra, and Music Academy of the West.

Tung completed her DMA at The Ohio State University and holds horn performance degrees from Rice and DePaul Universities. Her teachers include world renowned Dale Clevenger, William VerMeulen, Oto Carrillo, Jon Boen, David Griffin, and Bruce Henniss. She is on the Marrowstone Music Festival faculty and was previously the horn instructor at Olivet Nazarene University and Rice University’s Preparatory Program. Tung, who lives in Baltimore with her husband and cats Ansel and Blue, enjoys cooking and running during her free time. At Towson University she teaches Brass Methods.
