The Department of Music offers two graduate degrees: a Master of Science in Music Education
and a Master of Music in either performance or composition.
A Certificate of Music Education is also offered. A Certificate in Music: Dalcroze-Orff-Kodaly emphasis may be completed during summer sessions. Other areas of emphasis may involve the fall, spring and Minimester terms.
Entrance requirements and programs of study are available from the department’s graduate program directors and are outlined in the Graduate Catalog.
Upon admission to the program, all master's candidates (performance, composition and music education) must complete the history/literature and theory placements examinations prior to enrolling in a graduate level theory or history/literature class. Please review the information about preparing for the placement exams.
The date for the placement examination is Wednesday, January 23, 2013 in Room # 3077. 5:00-6:30 pm Theory Placement Exam. 6:30-8:00 pm History and Literature Placement Exam. Please note the exam date and submit the online form to schedule your placement examination.
