Guitar Performance

Musician playing an Acoustic/Electric guitar

The Towson University Music Department's Guitar Program was among the first collegiate programs in the country and is one of the premiere guitar programs in the region. Playing in ensembles is an important degree component and there are many ensemble courses to choose from, including guitar ensemble, early music ensemble and guitar accompanying.

Students pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in guitar performance receive classical guitar lessons focusing on musicianship, technique, and sight reading from world class faculty.

Towson guitar students also have the regular opportunity to perform in master classes from world class visiting artists. Recent guest artists include David Russell, Roland Dyens, Manuel Barrueco, and the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. The guitar performance degree program at Towson University has a long history of success in preparing young artists for the next step in their musical careers.

For more information on guitar performance, contact Prof. Michael Decker at mdecker@towson.edu or call 410- 704-2822.
