Admission to the nursing major is contingent upon the student being screened and admission being offered by the department. Admission to the university does not constitute or guarantee admission to the major. Students are eligible to apply for admission to the nursing major after they have completed a minimum of 42 undergraduate units, including at least three (3) laboratory science prerequisites and ENGL 102. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 is required.
Completed applications and all required documents are due January 15 for fall admission and August 15 for spring admission. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) Information
Students not enrolled at Towson University must also apply for admission to Towson University. Students may submit the nursing application prior to submitting the University application; however, students will not be accepted to the nursing major without being admitted to Towson University.
Selection for admittance is competitive, and is based upon several factors, one of which is the cumulative grade point average. A minimum of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale is required for admission consideration; however, most applicants maintain higher grade point averages. Only one grade below a 2.00 (C) is permitted in prerequisite or general education/core curriculum courses; and no more than two courses may be repeated. By University policy, a course may be repeated only once. Please refer to the Individual Admissions Policy should you not meet the admissions criteria. Click here to review admission statistics.
