The Department of Sociology, Anthropology & Criminal Justice invites applications for an entry-level, tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in our criminal justice concentration to begin August 2010.  Primary area of specialization for the position is criminology, but we are particularly interested in candidates with scholarly expertise focusing on street crime, especially robbery, burglary, property theft, arson, prostitution, pornography, illicit gambling, drug dealing, and to include chronic offenders or crime across the life course.  Must also be able to teach courses within our Criminology focus area, e.g., Race and Crime.  We also seek applicants with civic engagement experience of interest who can link our students to the local or global community through instructional or research activities.  Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching along with the clear potential for scholarly research.  The PhD degree in sociology, criminal justice, anthropology or a closely related field is expected by the starting date of employment, but advanced ABD candidates will also be considered and hired at the rank of instructor with a required completion date of February 1, 2011.  This position is contingent on the availability of funds at the time of hire.
