Duties

Teach media theory with an emphasis on emerging media or TV/video theory and proficiency in either script/new media writing or video/new media production.  Professional experience in media writing or production required.

Appointment

Ten-month appointment with the possibility of additional summer compensation for teaching.  Start date:  Fall 2010.

Qualifications

Appropriate terminal degree:   MFA, earned doctorate or ABD (completion of all doctoral work required by February 1, 2011).  Demonstrated success as a classroom teacher is required.   Experience and/or interest in collaborative and interdisciplinary teaching and scholarship as well as documented civic engagement efforts with students desired.  Must be able to participate in departmental and interdisciplinary curricular development in digital media.  Creative/scholarly activities, advising students, and departmental service responsibilities expected.  This position is contingent on the availability of funds at the time of hire.

Department

The Electronic Media and Film Department enrolls approximately 450 majors served by 13 full-time and 16 part-time faculty.  The Department offers the undergraduate major in electronic media and film leading to the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree.  The major is divided into three tracks in film/video/digital media, radio/audio, and theory and criticism.
