The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal justice invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in our criminal justice concentration to begin August 2010. We are interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: theories of crime, research methods, crime analysis, and crime policy. Candidates must be able to teach core courses in our criminal justice curriculum, especially Theories of Crime, Research Methods, Controversies in Criminal Justice and Introduction to Criminology. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with experience in SPSS, survey design and construction, sampling procedures, advanced statistics, and use of national secondary databases, and the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS). We also seek applicants with civic engagement experience of interest who can link our students to the local or global community through instructional or research activities. Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching along with the clear potential for scholarly research. The PhD degree in sociology, criminal justice, anthropology or a closely related field is expected by the starting date of employment, but advanced ABD candidates will also be considered and hired at the rank of instructor with a required completion date of February 1, 2011. This position is contingent on the availability of funds at the time of hire.
