Applicants are invited to apply for a tenure-track position in Actuarial Science at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2011. The salary is competitive. Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. in Actuarial Science or in a mathematical science with a thesis in Actuarial Science. They are expected to possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching mathematics at all levels. They also must be able to supervise projects at the Master’s level, show potential for a productive research/ scholarly program, and pursue external funding. Preference will be given to candidates who are Associates of the Society of Actuaries and Chartered Enterprise Risk Analysts in CAS or SOA.

The Department of Mathematics offers a bachelor’s degree program with concentrations in pure mathematics, applied mathematics, actuarial science and risk management, and mathematics education. Master’s degree programs are offered in applied and industrial mathematics, with a track in applied statistics/financial mathematics, and mathematics education.

This position is contingent on the availability of funds at the time of hire.
