POSITION: Assistant Professor, Interdisciplinary Object Design/3D Media, tenure track
RESPONSIBILITIES: Start Fall 2012. Teach equivalent of 5, 4-contact hour courses per academic year (fall and spring) at undergraduate level. Coordinate and develop the interdisciplinary object design which includes 3D Media and Digital Fabrication. Collaborate on the development of curriculum with other faculty in 3D Media. Develop and teach one Towson Seminar course, a university core requirement. Advise Art + Design majors, participate in MFA and other departmental committees.
APPOINTMENT: Ten-month appointment with start date of August 2012.
QUALIFICATIONS: MFA in Studio Art, or, Applied Design with a strong foundation in 3D media, some experience with Ceramics is preferred. A background including Product Design, Industrial Design or Applied Design in 3D Media is preferred. Familiarity with 3D digital fabrication and a working knowledge of Digital 3D Modeling, Rhino software, required. Applicants must possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, excellent communication skills, and the aptitude to contribute to a collaborative working environment. The willingness to contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives is also a necessity. Evidence or interest in securing external funding is preferred.

The Department of Art + Design, Art History, Art Education enrolls approximately 600 art and art history majors, 110 art education majors, and 60 graduate students. The students are served by 23 full-time faculty, 45 part-time faculty, and 5 staff. The department offers a comprehensive program, which includes the following majors: Art + Design, Art History, and Art Education. Graduate programs include the Master of Education in Art Education, Master of Fine Arts in Studio, MA in Professional Studies: Art History track, and the Interactive Media Design Certificate.
