The Department of Kinesiology invites applications for a tenure-track, 10-month Assistant or Associate Professor position in Physical Education/Teacher Education to begin August 2012.

Position responsibilities
Provide quality instruction in a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses, and perform research within the emphasis area. The successful candidate will assist with curriculum development, student recruitment, student advising, seek external funding, provide service to the Department, College, University, profession, and community. The successful candidate will also be expected to make substantial contributions to the newly-implemented M.S. in Kinesiology program, with a focus in Physical Education/Teacher Education.

Qualifications
An earned doctoral degree with a research component is required; Earned Degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or closely related area is also required; Applicants who are ABD will be considered, but appointment will be at the instructor rank, and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2013. The successful candidate must show evidence of the ability to develop collaborative relationships with faculty, schools and other agencies, two years teaching experience in Kindergarten – 12th grade is preferred, teaching experience in higher education is highly desirable, and an emphasis in secondary (middle/high school) is preferred. In addition to the previously mentioned qualifications, the candidate for the rank of Associate Professor must have a well-established line of research, at least six years of higher education teaching experience, and previous graduate level teaching is highly desirable.

Appointment

Tenure-track appointment for the 2012-2013 academic year. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. A benefits package is included.
