Positions:

The Department of Special Education invites applications for two (2) tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in the Department of Special Education. These positions are contingent upon final budget approval for fiscal year 2014. They are located at the main campus and satellite offices, with the possibility of teaching and administrative responsibilities at the regional higher education centers. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate programs in special education, as well as in the related Early Childhood/Special Education dual certification program at the undergraduate level, and Master of Education (M.Ed.) and Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) programs at the graduate level. These positions may include outreach to the community colleges and local school systems in the area; work within Professional Development Schools supervising interns; recruitment of students and student advising; and/or teaching both undergraduate and graduate classes. Additional responsibilities include engaging in external and internal service activities and scholarly activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
• All candidates must have an earned terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Special Education, Teacher Education, or a closely related field)
• Successful teaching experience in P-12 settings
• Teaching experience at the college/university level
• Excellent communication, human relations, and organizational skills
• Demonstrated literacy in educational technology
• Evidence of scholarly potential

Preferred Qualifications:
• Supervisory experiences with P-12 pre-service teacher candidates
• Work with Professional Development Schools
• Experience in grant writing; early childhood; technology; and Autism Spectrum Disorders.
