Applications are being accepted for a Towson University non-tenure track Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor in the Towson University – Community College of Baltimore County (TU-CCBC) collaborative Physician Assistant Program, to serve as the program’s Assistant Director/Academic Coordinator.
January 2014 start strongly preferred; June 2014 start date may be considered. This is an annually renewable year round clinical faculty position with a full time 10 month contact and a summer teaching contract. This one-year renewable clinical faculty position is the Towson University faculty member representative to this collaborative program, based on the CCBC-Essex campus. Salary is competitive; this position includes the full State benefits package.
Key participation in curriculum planning and in program development and evaluation; classroom teaching; student advising; engagement in scholarly activities; and a commitment to service to the University, program and community.
The successful candidate is expected to possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, experience in program and/or curriculum development and evaluation, previous experience interacting with communities of color, interest in developing and implementing curricula that address multicultural issues, and commitment to ongoing clinical excellence. NCCPA certified Physician Assistants are eligible to apply. Minimum of master’s degree; certification or eligibility for certification in Maryland; minimum of one year of recent experience in academic or clinical teaching; two years of clinical practice as a physician assistant. Candidates who wish to be considered for appointment at the rank of Clinical Associate Professor must meet all requirements for promotion to the clinical associate professor rank at Towson University. Applicants who intend to complete a master’s degree by August 2014 may be considered for a full -time lecturer position (position has limited benefits). This position will be converted to a 10 month clinical assistant professor position pending positive evaluations and completion of the master’s degree no later than August 15, 2014. If the degree is not complete by that date, the lecturer position may be continued for one 10 month contract (ending June 2015), pending positive evaluations.
The PA Program:
The program has 5 full-time faculty and several part-time faculty, and is offered full-time year-round in a 26-month format. Thirty-five students are admitted annually. After a first year of largely didactic study, students complete clinical rotations in medicine, family practice, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, emergency medicine, community medicine, and surgery, as well as an elective rotation and a primary care preceptorship.
