Visiting Assistant Professor of Digital Art and Design

The Department of Art + Design, Art History, Art Education is currently recruiting a One-Year Visiting Assistant Professor of Digital Art and Design to start August 2013.

Responsibilities:
Teach 5, 4-contact hour courses per academic year at undergraduate and graduate levels as assigned, update course content and manage specialized technology in the area. Participate in coordinating the DAD area with regard to budget, procurement, curriculum, and scheduling. Collaborate on the development of new initiatives within the digital art and animation programs.

Appointment:
Ten-month appointment with start date of August 2013.

Qualifications:
Qualified applicants will hold an MFA and demonstrate expertise in 3D Animation and related digital technology and applications. Substantial teaching beyond the graduate teaching assistant level is preferred. Preference is given to candidates with additional expertise in traditional modes of 2D and 3D animation, or additional areas within digital media. Candidates must be interested and conversant in interdisciplinary work and collaborating across disciplines within the department, college, and university. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to coordinate course content that includes 2D and 3D media as well as traditional and digital tools. Applicants must show evidence of professional accomplishment, a strong commitment to creative activity, teaching excellence, and service.

The Art + Design studio facilities include six computer labs with current technology, fully-equipped photo imaging facilities, as well as metals, sculpture and ceramics studios. Other departmental resources include a comprehensive digital fabrication and rapid technologies lab, a healthy MFA program, and two galleries.
