Clinical Assistant/Clinical Associate Position in Nursing (Doctoral)

Towson University is inviting applications for one full time 10-month grant-funded position at the clinical assistant/clinical associate professor level to begin on or before August of 2012. Responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate instruction; establishment and maintenance of practicum liaisons; academic advising; establishment of a scholarship agenda; and university and community service. This clinical track position is available for nursing faculty preferring an intensive clinical and teaching focus.

An earned doctoral degree with either a research component (i.e., PhD, EdD) or terminal clinical degree (DNP) is required. Demonstration of successful teaching and practice is preferred. Applicants who are ABD will be considered, but appointment will be at the instructor rank. All degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2013. Applicants are required to have a master’s degree in nursing with expertise in the respective specialty areas. Applicants with expertise in these areas will be given preference: Women’s Health, Child Health, Community Health, Gerontology, Nursing Administration, and Nursing Education. Licensure or eligibility for licensure in Maryland is required. Two years of recent experience in teaching and/or in practice related to the candidate’s clinical specialty is preferred. Rank and salary are based upon experience.

The Department
The Department of Nursing is CCNE accredited with approximately 325 undergraduate students. The department offers master’s programs in nursing education and nursing administration. There are currently over 100 students enrolled in graduate studies. Post-baccalaureate/post- master’s certificates in nursing education are available. The Department of Nursing offers the baccalaureate and master’s degrees at the Hagerstown campus. This is a regional center that provides undergraduate and graduate programs from the respective universities within the University System of Maryland.
