Freshman Transition Program (FTP) StudentsPicture of student groups in T.U. formation

Class of 2016

Thank you for considering Towson. We believe that it's an amazing place to get an education while discovering more about the person you are, and the person who you will become. There will be several opportunities to visit campus this year and we look forward to meeting you then.

If you have additional questions about the Freshman Transition Program, please contact program coordinator Ann Gamble by phone, 443-840-1735, or by email at agamble@ccbcmd.edu.

Section Header - Pre-Orientation Events
The University recognizes that one of students’ top concerns when making the transition to college is meeting other students so we created fun pre-orientation events. These events are not required and operate on a first-come-first serve basis. We are confident that you will find an activity below that best suits you!

OPTION 1: Tiger Talks

Tiger Talks are new this year and developed based on current TU students’ ideas. For a short three hours you will get to know the campus by completing and competing in fun activities with other new students who have similar interests. After your Tiger Talk you will be invited to a private Facebook group so you can continue to connect with your new friends.

By participating in Tiger Talks you will

  • connect with current students and other new students with similar interests,
  • have the opportunity to ask questions about what to expect from college life,
  • begin to feel acclimated to the campus,
  • learn strategies for a successful transition to TU,
  • start to become aware of the possibilities for involvement in college,
  • develop a personalized transition plan.

Space is limited; therefore early registration is encouraged. The cost to attend Tiger Talks is $25, due at the time of the reservation. We strongly encourage you to kick off your Towson experience with these unique events.

The 10 dates of Tiger Talks are:

  • Thurs. June 21 6:00-9:00 pm

OPTION 2: Project Serve (.pdf)

Wed. 8/22 – Thurs. 8/24*
Enjoy community service? Participants in Project Serve will move in early and then spend two days giving back to the Baltimore community. Past experiences have included building houses, volunteering at a local food back, preparing meals and helping beautiful schools. Project Serve participants also have the opportunity to connect to our residential learning community, Tigers Serving Others. Please refer to the application in your To-Do List for more information.

OPTION 3: Project Marj

Mon. 8/20 – Thurs. 8/24*
An experiential orientation course, within the physical capabilities of the average healthy person, Project Serve is designed for incoming Towson University freshman and transfer students. Please refer to the application in your To-Do List or here for more information.

*Due to space capacity, students are unable to partake in more than one pre-orientation activity. Participation is limited to one Tiger Talk, Project Serve OR Project Marj.
