About Us
Towson University’s Division of Economic and Community Outreach (DECO) is a self support entity with over 140 highly-skilled professionals. Our team members are located both on campus and in numerous state agencies in Maryland. Since our formation in 2004 the division has secured over $50 million in grants and contracts. Our client base includes federal agencies, state agencies, county and local governments, non-profit organizations, and private sector companies. The solutions our professionals provide benefit the citizens of the state and region and range from developing the sex offender map registry to making it possible for citizens to register their car online on the MVA website. DECO also has expertise in Association Management and is currently managing two national organizations the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities (CUMU) and the University Economic Development Association (UEDA). Our Association Management team provides financial management, marketing expertise, event and conference coordination, and organizational oversight.
Mission Statement
The Division of Economic and Community Outreach is the bridge that links the highly qualified research and project talent of the University to the larger community it serves. DECO does this through a variety of business units that can provide a full range of educational, research, and technological services. DECO’s client base includes federal, state, and county and local government agencies; non-profit organizations; and private sector companies.
Vision
The Division of Economic and Community Outreach of Towson University seeks to be the first choice with its existing and prospective clients for innovative and creative solutions to their business, educational, research and technological needs. DECO gathers the premier consortia of talent and skills necessary to provide solutions for government, industry and the community; and is a portal into university resources that serve to enhance the overall business climate, and engage the greater community.
