Case Study Enrollment
(AIT 710, 715, 720, 725, 730 or 735)
If you are working toward the M.S. degree in Applied Information Technology, it is suggested that you enroll in your Case Study after you have completed 6 or 7 courses.
In order to enroll in a Case Study course, you must first obtain permission of the Academic Program Director. To obtain permission, you must prepare and submit a project proposal including the following:
Project Justification:
- Provide justification to support that:your project is built upon the knowledge acquired in the four courses within your particular concentration;
the topics listed in the Case Study Syllabus are incorporated into the project proposal;
the course objectives shall be met upon completion of the Case Study.
Project Definition:
- Prepare a Problem Statement from the client point of view.
- List the educational objectives of the project.
Reading List:(This list is finalized upon approval of the project proposal.)
- Expected Input:Prepare a list of requirements needed in order to achieve the objectives of the project proposal, including hardware, software, development tools, data from the originator of the project, etc.
Expected Outcome:
- State expected outcomes from the client point of view.
Software/System Requirements Specification:State the following requirements:
- functional requirements
- performance requirements
- interface requirements (if applicable)
- human factor requirements (if applicable)
Implementation Plan:
- schedule estimation
- size estimation
- milestone review schedule
- audits and walkthrough schedule
- final product deliver schedule
Final Product:The final product of a Case Study course will include the following:
- final system/software requirements specification
- IT architecture
- system/software test plan and test cases
- written document explaining the system development process used
- acceptance test
- source code (if applicable)
- presentation to Academic Program Director and other instructor(s)
