CAIT can work with you or your organization on joint research projects. Some of our past joint research projects have included:

Web Accessibilty

The center, under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Lazar, conducted research on 50 sites in the Mid-Atlantic area to determine their compliance to Section 508 and Priority 1 of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines [WCAG]. (U.S Federal regulations require that Federal Government Web Sites must be accessible to people using assistive technology devices). The sites represented a range or organizations from I.T. Firms, non-profits, large & small businesses, government and private firms. The research on the accessibility of the sites yielded surprising results and will be published in the Universal Access in the Information Society (UAIS) journal.

Data Analysis

Under a grant through the Howard County Department of Aging, CAIT is providing data analysis from a survey that was completed of older residents of Howard County. The final report will provide the County with a blueprint of service needs throughout four areas of the County, and will be used for future service delivery planning.

Web Design

CAIT received a grant through the Maryland Dept. of Human Resources to migrate numerous applications of the department onto their web site. This will afford more accessibility for the public to MDHR services and programs, and provides some graduate students of the AIT program with valuable experience.

Network and Technical Support

CAIT received a grant through the United States Postal Service (main Post Office in Baltimore City) to provide innovative technical support for the staff both at this site and other numerous sites throughout the metropolitan area.

Network Design and Support

CAIT received a grant through TMI, Inc. to provide ongoing network design and support for projects throughout the metropolitan area.
