Client-Site Support
Outsourcing is a cost-effective, time-efficient strategy for obtaining the expertise needed to develop and maintain an effective GIS. When organizations and government agencies need GIS specialists but do not have the resources to hire permanent GIS staff, CGIS outsources highly qualified GIS staff. CGIS maintains responsibility for the human resources functions for client-site staff and currently provides GIS staff for the following agencies.
- Department of Housing and Community Development
CGIS staff working at the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) assist with GIS implementation to fulfill the agency’s mission to revitalize communities and expand homeownership and affordable housing opportunities.
- Department of Natural Resources
On project initiation, CGIS will place GIS staff at the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to assist with updating Maryland’s Green Infrastructure Assessment.
- Maryland Emergency Management Agency
GIS specialists from CGIS have been serving on-site at the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) since September 2003 to assist with integrating a variety of GIS functions into homeland security and disaster management processes.
- Maryland State Highway Administration
GIS support staff assigned to SHA update and edit grid, town, and county maps; assist with development of GIS applications; manage GIS resources for the use of all offices and divisions within SHA; train SHA employees in the use of GIS; and produce GIS mapping displays for highway projects and public hearing display.
