Geospatial Analysis and Database Development
Geographic data forms a foundation for a wide range of key decisions, from protecting natural resources, to planning for the future, to responding to emergencies. GIS enables organizations to gather, consolidate, and analyze the data then share the results with others via maps—not simply location maps, but color-coded maps, for example, based on data from a spreadsheet. With GIS, information can be visualized in highly effective ways. The following CGIS database projects are just a few examples.
- Landscape Assessment Database for the Maryland Coastal Bays Program
- GIS Database to Support Maryland’s Comprehensive Shore Erosion Control Plan
- Comprehensive updates to Maryland Emergency Management Agency’s manuals Maryland Hazard Analysis and the Maryland Multi-Hazard Risk Assessment and Economic Impact
- Conversion of multi-page ADC map books into seamless countywide images for use in ArcView and other GIS software
- Comprehensive data and metadata work on floodplain maps, countywide zoning maps, bikeways, parks, transportation, and historic preservation layers for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission
- The Chesapeake Bay and Mid-Atlantic from Space Infomart, a component of the NASA/Raytheon/Synergy project that explores the principles of remote sensing
