Astronomy is the oldest science and has fascinated every recorded civilization. We at TU are fortunate to have resources to engage in this study that are often limited to larger schools. In addition to our 14" cassegrain reflector and our 24' planetarium, we have an advanced computer lab. that is well equipped to study modern digital data from any observatory, including the Hubble Space Telescope. Some of the current research being done by faculty and students at TU can be seen through some of the accompanying links.

The Astronomy program at Towson University consists of the Astronomy minor and the Astrophysics track within the Physics major, as well as programs intended for the general public. See the "courses" link above for what courses are being offered this semester. The "Planetarium Shows" link to the left, shows when public talks (with no admission fee) are being offered in the Watson-King planetarium, room 521 in Smith Hall. Students interested in studying astronomy are encouraged to contact faculty in the Department of Physics, Astronomy, and Geosciences directly for more information.
