Remote Testing Instructions -
For Placement
Testing at a Location Other Than Towson University
Please read this entire page carefully!
Towson University offers the
ACCUPLACER placement test on campus by appointment. If it is more convenient for
you to take the ACCUPLACER test at a
location closer to your home, all of these directions must
be followed. Please be aware that the placement testing must
be fulfilled before your class schedule can be completed.
- If you are a high-school senior, you should contact
community colleges or learning centers to see if they are
willing to administer the Towson University placement test.
If the testing center is willing to do so, please obtain the
contact information listed in #3 below, schedule a testing
day and time, and use the email
link (see #2 below) to send the contact information to our
office.
- If your college does not have a testing center, contact
local community colleges or learning centers willing to
administer the Towson University placement test, obtain
the contact information listed in #3 below, schedule a
testing day and time, and use the
email link to send the contact information to our office.
*PLEASE
NOTE: Anne Arundel Community College at GBTC, Berkeley
College, Montgomery College, and Northern Virginia Community
College administer placement testing to their
students. Also, if you want to complete placement
testing at Nassau Community College, please call
516-572-7780. Do not contact Sylvan Learning
Center (12 Alfred Street), UMUC, Prince George's Community
College to complete placement testing.
- Placement Testing email
(please use your email address with plain text and no
graphics; the spam blocker will block your email)
- Obtain Test Administrator contact information:
test administrator's name, college or test center's name, email address
and phone number. When sending this information to our email
address, you must include your name, phone number, TU I.D. number and email address.
Please Inform
the test administrator at the college or learning center that Towson University's Placement
Testing staff (410-704-2418) will email him or
her our ACCUPLACER I.D. and Password within three days for administering the ACCUPLACER test.
- Any charges for taking the ACCUPLACER test at another
college or learning center are your responsibility. Until the test
administrator receives our ACCUPLACER I.D. and password , you will not be able to take the on-line ACCUPLACER
test at their location.
- Take your confirmation email to the test location. It
will include your Towson I.D. number which you will need during the log-in process. The
email also verifies the test batteries you will be taking
(reading, writing and/or mathematics).
-
Be sure to identify yourself as a Towson University
student or
you may be accidentally administered the ACCUPLACER test for the
host campus or test location, which may not include the same test batteries
for the Towson University campus.
-
Be sure to have a photo I.D. and
confirmation email for check-in purposes---you will
not be allowed to test if you do not present these two
important items.
-
Bring several pencils and/or pens.
-
If you are taking the mathematics placement test, do NOT
bring a calculator. The calculator appears within the
test when calculator use is appropriate.
-
Do NOT bring your own scrap paper; it will be provided
for you and collected from you at the end of the test.
-
Your test scores and placement results appear on the
computer screen at the end of your testing session. Ask the
test administrator to print the score report and give you a
copy. No one at the local campus or test location will have access to
your results once you are logged out of the test. Your results
are specific to Towson University. If you did not receive a copy of your score report, please
contact Placement Testing immediately at 410-704-2418.
You do not need to send us a copy of score results; we
have access to the ACCUPLACER score report.
-
Read Retest Policy to see if you qualify for
retesting. If you qualify for a re-test, please inform
Placement Testing by using our email address.
