WHAT ARE THE AFFECTS
OF
GLOBAL WARMING?

Since global warming is causing the atmosphere to heat up, the climate of the planet is changing. Due to the process of global warming the temperature of the world will be altered, as well as the amount of percipitation and the intensity of storms. The rise in temperature will be higher in the northern hemisphere than the southern hemisphere, because the southern hemisphere possess most of the ocean water. Water is an excellent component for absorbing heat. It is estimated that the farther you get from the equator the warmer the temperature will get, causing warmer winters and less hot summers.

When the temperature rises the process of evaporation occurs, drying soils, rivers and lakes. Evaporation releases vapors into the atmosphere causing worldwide increase in rain and snow in some regions, while causing drought in others. Global warming can cause the currents of the oceans to shift effecting the fish population.

Global warming causes the seas to rise. When water is heated it expands. If the water keeps heating up and glaciers continue to melt causing the volume of oceans to increase we run the risk of many coastal areas drowning. Some islands in the caribbean are in danger of disappearing. Delta areas suffer a similar fate. The rising seas will wash away fertile land needed for agriculture. It is estimated that Egypt could lose 15% of its fertile farmland to rising seas.
