Assistant or Associate Professor in Secondary Education

The College of Education is seeking candidates with doctorates in a targeted educational discipline or closely allied field and at least three years teaching experience in a Pk-12 setting.

Assistant or Associate Professor in Secondary Education to teach courses to prepare middle and high school teachers in English/Language Arts (ELA) for grades 6-12.

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, work closely with interns, teachers, and students integrating inquiry and practice in the context of professional development schools; collaborate with colleagues across the college and region and demonstrate knowledge of the Common Core
Standards and instructional implications of PARCC assessments, and be current in educational technology and digital teaching and learning.

A doctorate in English/Language Arts Education or related field and a research agenda in English/Language Arts Education with at least three years successful teaching experience in a Pk-12 setting, experience as a Certified Reading Specialist and scholarly expertise in literacy
acquisition, methods of teaching reading and writing, and new literacies to pre-adolescents and adolescents.

Towson University’s College of Education ( is undertaking a major recruitment effort to expand the breadth and depth of expertise in its teacher preparation and instructional leadership areas. This effort reflects major reforms in public Pk-12 education curricula, student assessment measures, and educator evaluation and instructional differentiation to maximize student learning, as well as Towson University’s commitment to serving the teaching and school leadership needs in public Pk-12 education. These searches emphasize substantive expertise areas.
