The Department of Kinesiology invites applications for a tenure-track 10-month assistant professor position with an August 2014 starting date. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Research doctoral degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or a closely related discipline required. Applicants who are ABD will be considered but appointment will be at the instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2015. The candidate should have knowledge of the CAATE accreditation process, and be able to teach courses in the CAATE approved Athletic Training Education program and also in Exercise Science major. Demonstrated success in working with diverse populations of students and experience in college teaching is highly desirable.
Provide quality instruction primarily in a variety of undergraduate athletic training and exercise science courses and perform research within the emphasis area. The candidate will also assist with curriculum development, student recruitment, student advising, seek external funding, provide service to the department, college, university, profession, and community.
The Department of Kinesiology is located within the College of Health Professions and has 30 full-time faculty and more than 1300 undergraduate majors in Physical Education/ Teacher Education, Athletic Training, Sport Management, and Exercise Science. The department also offers a master’s degree in kinesiology. In addition, the department is responsible for oversight of the College of Health Professions Institute for Well-Being’s Wellness Center that serves over 300 members each year with its programs that support student education and community outreach. The department also has a strong, positive relationship with the University’s Division of Athletics.
