TONIGHT IS JUSTIN CHIN @ 7pm in LI 100! FREE refreshments and book raffles!

So I’d like to start off this e-mail letting everyone know that there will be three attachments onto this one. The first one is going to be a copy of the minutes in plain old black and white. Sometimes I can get carried away with color and I can admit that. So from now on, there will always be a word document in black and white for those who like plain boring formats. The second attachment will be our new constitution (more about this below).  And the third is the old constitution.

We started out the meeting with two, yes two, icebreakers. The first one being “Meet Your Buddy” and the second one being, the classic, your name aaaaaaaaaaand your favorite cereal… mine was lucky charms .

The second thing on our agenda was the constitution discussion. (I told you there would be more.) It is always important to review legal documents, such as the contracts, restriction orders, and constitutions for the organizations you are in. Well, this is one of those chances to review our constitution.

Those are not the only changes we made but the most noteable and that does not mean that there cannot be anything else changed or updated. Please understand that some of our policies need to abide by the SGA polices. Please look over the constitution for grammar/spelling mistakes. Read it and tell us what you think and tell us what YOU want to see in it. We need your feedback!

The next meeting we have (11-13-07) we will vote on the changes so you have a week to let us know how you feel. Active members will be able to vote, an active member is a member that has been to four consecutive meetings and/or events. We will have a list and please feel free to challenge us on your status if you feel you are an active member. I like a good argument… jk!!

The next thing on our agenda was the discussion about the Director position and how it should be named. Currently it is the “ Director of LGBT Student Development.” Some people have expressed the lack of identity that the name encompasses and suggested adding “QIA”  and “Center”, which stands for “Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Ally” - making the new title the “ Director of the LGBTQIA Student Development Center”. Any thoughts? We’d love to hear them!

We then talked about the, Rainbow Lounge, and how it is currently under construction with the removal of the closet from the room, because there will be no closet in the Rainbow Lounge snap. We also would really like your input on this as well. The space is for the students (you) and the students get to decide what is in it. Please feel free to e-mail us or stop by the Center for Student Diversity, to questions about the space and provide feedback on the space, as well as the Director position.

You have a voice! Ask questions! Speak up! Nothing is MORE powerful than a student voice on university campus!

As for the announcements:
