The meeting started off with an icebreaker of famous people and questions. Each person had a post-it with a persons name on it and that person had to ask someone else questions until they guessed whose name was written.
Next we talked about the Coming Out Monologues that are happening in April. Please do not forget to e-mail your stories to the us at towsonqsu@gmail.com . We are trying to find people who are willing to share their coming out stories, whether you are coming out as a gay male, a transgender individual, a straight ally, or anyone else who has a story of them coming out. People who submit stories do not necessarily have to perform their own stories, and stories can be submitted anonymously. Everyone has a story of coming out, and it is an excellent new program we are starting this year. It will be in the middle of our Pride Week, and it would be amazing to get our stories out there and be heard!!!
We are looking to get a team together for Tigerthon. Tigerthon will be Friday, March 7th from 5pm-5am. It is a dance marathon to help raise money for the John's Hopkins Children's Miracle Network. People who went last year said that they had a lot of fun and there was more than just dancing. It included bands, comedians, and FOOD!!! Please e-mail the gmail account if you are interested in attending! Remember the money will go to a good cause! Although the website is from last year there is more info here: http://www.towson.edu/studentactivities/communityservice/tigerthon.asp
We then had three excellent candidates run for the vacant position of treasurer. Stephanie, Tai, and Briana gave excellent speeches about why they should be voted in and members asked questions to the candidates.
Do not forget that the LGBTQIA Night Panel is TOMORROW Wednesday the 27th at 7pm! Doors will open at 7pm with refreshments, and the panel will begin at 7:30pm. Come out and bring your friends to support members of QSU and others in the LGBTQIA community!
Chris Bell, the QSU advisor, and Santiago Solis, the Director of the CSD, counted the votes, and Chris announced Briana as our new Treasurer! Congratulations Briana!!!!
Lastly, we ended with a fun scavenger hunt! This sent people all over the Union searching for odds and ends to taking pictures. There were some very creative/funny pictures out there! The winners were Meaghan McNelis, Jeff, Elisabeth Hellwig, Caroline Vassighi, and Melissa Conley. So congrats to you all for entertaining me with your creativeness!
