Latin Honors are awarded, by College, to students in the top ten percent (10%) of each graduating class based on the calculated grade point average of their final 60 units completed at Towson University, distributed as follows:
Summa Cum Laude – top 2%
Magna Cum Laude – next 3%
Cum Laude – next 5%
Latin Honors for the August graduating class will be based on the calculated grade point average cutoffs set by the preceding May class.
Special notes:
The final 60 units will include the entire term in which the total of 60 units was attained. At least 45 of these 60 units must have calculable grades.
No student with a calculated GPA below 3.50 will be considered for Latin Honors.
Students with majors in two or more colleges will earn the highest Latin Honors for which they are eligible.
Transfer credits are not considered for Latin Honors at Towson University. Students must have 60 earned units at TU.
Student records will also be reviewed based on the total record at Towson University. Those whose cumulative GPA equals or exceeds the cut-offs by college will be awarded Latin Honors.
PLEASE NOTE:
Honors are evaluated AFTER the ceremony and, when awarded, will appear on the transcript and diploma.
