To remain in good academic standing, students must possess a minimum cumulative GPA. The minimum cumulative GPA is based on either earned units or GPA hours, whichever number is higher, as indicated below:
|units (EARNED UNITS OR GPA HOURS)*||minimum cumulative gpa|
|30 - 59.5||1.75|
|60 and above||2.0|
|*Earned Units or GPA Hours - whichever is higher.|
Earned units include transfer work. GPA hours include only those courses for which a letter grade was received (not transfer work or grades of Pass, Audit or Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory). Letter grades, also called calculable units, are any grade that calculates into the cumulative GPA (e.g. A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, D+, D, F, FX). Students who receive grades of F or FX will sometimes have a higher number of GPA hours than earned units, because they have not earned credit for the F grades. The student transcript shows both earned units and GPA hours, and both are reviewed to determine the minimum CGPA required for good academic standing.
|*units||minimum cumulative gpa|
|Total of all units||3.0|
|*Includes Towson coursework only.|
Minimum 3.0 GPA is required for all courses taken for graduate credit whether or not
they are required for the degree.
Good academic standing is necessary to transfer course work and to graduate.
