Program Intake Specialist

Description
    The Program Intake Specialist is an integral part of the daily operation of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and is considered a valuable component in communicating with potential SBDC clients, resource partners and general callers.
   This paid, part-time position requires 20-30 hours per week. SBDC hours are from 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Bi-lingual students will be given strong consideration.
   The specialist will handle all incoming calls from potential clients calling about SBDC’s training programs, counseling offerings and locations. Inquiries may also be made about programs similar in nature. The specialist must be able to effectively convey information and direct callers to the appropriate resources.

Program Intake Specialist Tasks
  • Marketing & Training
    • Promote courses to potential clients
    • Assemble & distribute loan packages
    • Assemble & distribute business start-up packages
    • Maintain database of training courses
Required Skills and Experience
  • Customer service oriented
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ablity to think out processes and procedures thoroughly and independently
  • Able to effectively communicate to a diverse group of contacts including workshop participants, media contacts, university departments and the general public
  • Highly organized with general office procedures
  • Junior or Senior year of college curriculum
  • Administrative Skills
    • Typing, faxing, and copying
    • Answer phones and handling inquiries
    • Maintain database of workshop files
    • Order office supplies
    • Open and distribute mail
    • Compile monthly & quarterly regional management report
  • Computer Skills
    • Knowledge of Windows 95/98/00
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
    • Knowledge of World Wide Web
    • Input and Maintenance of management information systems (MIS)

Students will acquire knowledge needed to start a small business, as well as become aware of the various resources available for entrepreneurs. Areas such as financing, business planning, marketing and technical support, procurement opportunities, accounting and legal resources will be covered.
