Host Families

The Summer / Winter in Maryland Program at Towson University provides participants the opportunity to meet local- area American families. Informal meetings on/off campus, as well as an invitation to have a meal with a family in their home, are part of the experience. (Note that this is not a homestay, but rather an opportunity to visit a host famly for food and friendship at a mutually convenient time.)

Family friendship connections represent a significant opportunity for cross-cultural sharing outside the classroom, and is an invaluable experience for both the students and their gracious hosts.  Host families are able to learn about foreign cultures and world languages, while at the same time teach and share their American culture and heritage. In addition to learning, sharing, and enjoying time together, lifelong friendships often emerge. Such experiences are frequently considered one of the highlights of the program.
