SUMMER IN MARYLAND PROGRAM
About Our Program
A Total of 60 Hours of English Language Instruction
Highly qualified instructors will
teach you how to use English in real-life situations. The overall
emphasis will be on conversations in social and academic situations,
and practiced in both the classroom and with conversation groups
and host families. All instructors are from English Language Center
(ELC). Upon completion of SIM, we strongly encourage you to continue
your study at the ELC or in a degree program here at Towson University.
Conversation Groups
Students will participate in a group setting
to converse with native English-speaking students. This will take
place weekly.
Weekly Movies
All participants will have the opportunity to watch movies (in English) while in the company of instructors. After watching the movies you will be able to discuss the meaning and ask any questions you may have about the movies.
Field Trips
A Towson University bus will take you to
various locations and events throughout the Baltimore, Annapolis
(capital of Maryland) and Washington, D.C. areas. Experienced Summer In Maryland staff will accompany you on these field trips.
We have also planned a weekend trip to New York City (extra fee) that includes transportation, hotel, breakfast and private tour guide.
One-Weekend Home Stay With a Local Family
What is an "American" family? You will find out! SIM has arranged for the most hospitable families in the area to open their homes and hearts to you.
