TOWSON IS NUMBER ONE!!!

In a stunning victory at the Cross Examination Debate Association National Championships, Dayvon Love and Deven Cooper WON the tournament in a 7-4 decision against the top seeded Kansas State.

This is HUGE because it marks the first time a team of Black men have won the tournament, in addition to the first time Towson has won the tournament. It marks the end of a grueling 5-day tournament in Wichita, Kansas at Wichita State University.

Also, the team of Adam Jackson and Deverick Murray made it to double octofinal rounds, where they were defeated by the same top-seeded Kansas State team. Adam and Deverick beat their own record last year where they advanced to triple-octofinals..

Dayvon and Deven have also qualified for the National Debate Tournament (NDT) this March. This is also huge for the Towson debate program in two ways. First this is only the second time in Towson history that a team has qualified for the tournament, and the FIRST time a black team has qualified from Towson.

Deven and Dayvon qualified through the District 7 tournament with a record of 5-3. This an an extremely exciting time for the team and we're going to try our hardest to see that they both succeed after their enormous success at CEDA.

GO DAYVON AND DEVEN!!!
