HIGH 5R.E.A.C.H. for the High Five

REACH for the HIGH 5 is the new and improved community service program at Towson University. Those involved with the program will REACH by developing and participating in 5 different community service experiences of your choice.  

The GOAL of the program is to Respect, Encourage, Advocate, be involved in the Community, and Help others (R.E.A.C.H) by participating in at least one opportunity in five different areas. These five areas can be remembered by the word “SKILL.”

REACH for the HIGH 5 is a great program created to get students involved in all possible areas of service, don’t miss this great chance to get involved and volunteer! 
 

Top Ten Reasons to Participate

  1. Use your gifts and talents to help others in new and interesting ways.

  2. Meet great new people who share your interests.

  3. Get valid experience in your future field of work.

  4. Volunteering looks excellent on resumes.

  5. Develop new insights about yourself and better understand some of the attitudes you hold about life.

  6. Make a difference in an area you care about.

  7. Improve the quality of life of those around you.

  8. Help you decide on a career path.

  9. Become eligible for scholarships including MTV’s “TRL Choose or Lose Scholarship”.

**If the form is not working, email Ali at abatan1@towson.edu with your name, the date and a description of the community service you did, as well as, the name and contact information of the organization or event you did the service for.

How do you Become Involved in Community Service?

Choose any combination of these types of activities or come up
with your own ideas and remember to keep track of what you do!

Service Organizations:  There are a number of different Student Service Organizations on campus, including Circle K, Red Cross Corps, the Brotherhood, and the Sisterhood

Keep Going:  For those who are interested in long term volunteer opportunities, check out our database of “Community Partners”  These community partners are volunteer agencies who are looking for Towson students to serve at their agencies.

Incredible Events:  Join in on some of our incredible special events.  These include, Project Serve, Volunteer Day, Dance Marathon, and Community Service Week.

Look Here:  Stay on campus and volunteer by participating in Grub n Give, Volunteer Van, volunteering at the Dowell Health Center, or the TU Reading Clinic.

Lone Opportunities:  Opportunities are also available for those who like to participate in one time events, such as walk-a-thons, tree plantings, other fundraising events, and much more.

  • Picking up a copy of the Towson Volunteer Newsletter available at the beginning of the month in the Office of Student Activities, University Union, 217.

  • Subscribe to the Towson University Volunteer Listserv. You will receive weekly emails detailing the upcoming volunteer opportunities both on campus and in the surrounding community,
