Overview

Fraternities and sororities are values-based social organizations that have thrived on the American college campus for over 200 years. Greek-letter organizations instill in their members the importance of maintaining high moral, social, and intellectual standards. Membership provides opportunities for:

Fraternity & Sorority Life at Towson University

Fraternities and sororities were first recognized by Towson University in the early 1970s, and -over the years - have played an integral role in the campus community. Greek Life currently represents approximately 7% of the total undergraduate student population with over 1,000 active members. The university employs one full-time Coordinator for Greek Life and a part-time Greek Life Graduate Assistant to oversee the community. The Coordinator is the primary advisor for Greek Life's four Governing Councils (fraternity and sorority governing bodies) as well as the 29 individual chapters that fall into said umbrella organizations. The Greek Life staff manages fraternity and sorority recruitment and intake processes, and facilitates a variety of leadership and educational programs for fraternity and sorority members. Greek Life regularly partners with other university departments such as Athletics, the Counseling Center, Campus Recreation Services, and the Career Center, putting on programs designed to enhance the co-curricular experience for fraternity men and sorority women at TU.

Greeks at Towson University are extremely involved on campus.  Fraternity and sorority members belong to a variety of other student organizations such as the Student Government Association, Student Ambassador Program, Campus Activities Board, Council of Student Leaders, and the Black Student Union, just to name a few!

Greek-letter organizations work diligently in the area of philanthropy. Below are some of the charitable organizations supported by Towson University fraternities and sororities:
